On behalf of the 22nd MD411 Convention Organising Team, I wish to welcome all delegates to the 22nd Multiple District 411 Convention.
This convention is hosted by the Lions of Nairobi, District 411A at the Lake Naivasha Resort to give all participants an opportunity to experience the beautiful sites of Magical Kenya for a memorable convention experience. Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake in Kenya, outside the town of Naivasha in Nakuru County, which lies northwest of Nairobi. It is situated in the Great Rift Valley. The name derives from the local Maasai name ɛnaɨpɔ́sha, meaning “that which heaves,” a common Maasai word for bodies of water large enough to have wave action when it is windy or stormy. Naivasha arose from a British attempt to pronounce the Maasai name. Literally, Lake Naivasha means “Lake Lake.”
The MD Convention is a momentous epoch on the Calendar of Lions of MD411. It is a time when Lions and Leos come together to celebrate our achievements in serving our communities and expanding our fraternity. It is also an opportunity to meet and fellowship with our friends, make new friends across different countries of our Multiple District and beyond. Shine a light on the performance of our leaders at different levels, and to usher in new leaders that would take our fraternity to another level over the course of the following year. It is an event no Lion should miss for anything.
The theme for this 22nd MD411 Convention is inline with each of the District Governor’s themes and more so to that of our International President Fabrício Oliveira, International President, MAKE A MARK. This is to remind us, as we celebrate, of the responsibility of Lions in making their MARK for humanity. It affirms the significance of our humanitarian services in environmental protection, fighting hunger, preserving sight, promoting awareness and action against diabetes, supporting children with cancer, responding to disasters and emergencies, empowering the young people, and addressing pertinent needs in our communities, in making the world a better place. This is our cardinal calling, and no celebration is complete without the context of these, our major global causes for action.
The organizing team has put together a convention package like none before, to enhance the convention experience of every delegate. Every day of the convention has been themed to bring out the best of what we have come to expect at our conventions. The meals, the ambience of venues, entertainment, and the general hospitality, have been immaculately conceived to exceed every delegate’s expectation. Our GLTs have put together learning opportunities to add value and knowledge to all our delegates. Leos have also been considered, with the second Leo Multiple District Conference to run alongside the Lions Convention. We have also planned for our delegates to explore the beauty of Naivasha and its environs for a complete experience of the Rift Valley.
